A lisztet a zsírral, és a cukorral elmorzsoljuk. A tejben a szalalkálit felfuttatjuk és a liszthez adjuk.

A tésztát 6 felé vágjuk. Cipókba gyúrjuk, vékonyra nyújtjuk, majd lisztezett tepsi hátán külön-külön megsütjük 8-10 perc alatt 200 fokon (gázsütő). (Vigyázat, hamar megsülnek!)
Elkészítjük a krémet: a tej 3/4 részét a cukorral és a vaníliával felforraljuk. A lisztet a kakaóval és a megmaradt tejjel simára keverjük és a forrásban lévő tejhez öntjük. Folytonos keverés mellett sűrű krémmé főzzük. A krémet a tűzről levesszük, a fele vajat elkeverjük benne és melegen a hat lapon egyenként eloszlatjuk, majd a lapokat egymásra rakjuk.
A tetejét a megmaradt felolvasztott vajjal megkenjük és porcukorral meghintjük.
Hideg helyen egy napig pihentetjük és csak másnap szeleteljük fel.
Akár csokoládéval is bevonhatjuk a tetejét!
